ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the CFO of Pharmacology, serve as Pre-Award Staff Associate. Responsibilities include preparing and monitoring 150 proposals/year in excess of $15M according to format guidelines and institutional policies and procedures; interfacing with OCGA and department post-award fund management teams to resolve grant issues; reviewing awarded synopses, interpreting terms and conditions; providing consultation to faculty and fund managers regarding terms and conditions of awards and allow ability of expenditures; maintaining programs and databases that support the preparation of proposals and analysis of related data; and serving as departmental representative to outside entities such as federal agencies (e.g. NIH, DOE, NSF), private foundations, and professional organizations such as Society of Research Administrators (SRA) and National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA).
Qualifications Ability to analyze situations, defining problems, identifying concerns and suggesting alternatives. Strong organization skills, ability to prioritize job functions to meet deadlines and insure smooth workflow, and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to review detailed work for critical inaccuracies. Ability to interpret and apply UC, federal and state policies regarding contract and grant administration. Ability to compile and organize a variety of data for use in established report formats and to organize and delegate tasks and to meet established deadlines. Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal directions. Mature interpersonal skills to work effectively and manage group process in an academic environment. Ability to interact constructively with faculty and staff in person and over the phone, exercising tact and diplomacy with emphasis on flexibility and professionalism. Demonstrated knowledge of Macintosh and Windows systems with Word, Excel, Access and File Maker Pro. Knowledge of current federal, state and local regulations pertaining to extramural funding and working knowledge of extramural proposal budgets sufficient to review proposals for accuracy and adherence to agency guidelines are preferred.
