We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Director, Global Market Access for our Interventional Pulmonology business unit.
The Sr. Director, Global Market Access (GMA) is primarily responsible for the market access strategies in the U.S. working alongside the interventional medicine business units, GMA team, physicians, payers, and hospital providers to obtain coding, coverage, payment and demonstrate compelling value propositions for its products. The role will also support other business units as needed. The Sr. Director role has a mix of strategic and tactical execution responsibilities to include HEOR initiatives to favorably position the BU products. Working with his or her commercial colleagues, the Senior Director develops value propositions for the U.S. market, taking into account the payer/reimbursement models and the requirements of economic buyers including hospital administrators and local purchasing organizations. The role is part of the BTG Global Market Access (GMA) team whose goal it is to gain access to payer and provider networks, and support the U.S. commercial leadership to achieve business objectives. The role involves expert knowledge of the U.S. health care system, including a deep understanding of diverse reimbursement models and payer types (e.g., traditional public / private payers and hospital-based integrated health networks), experience creating access tools and programs, and strong interaction / communication skills with product-focused market access teams and commercial colleagues. Knowledge and expertise in designing and developing protocols to assess value proposition and ability to engage with payers to ensure appropriate study design is required. Significant knowledge of the BTG treatment spaces, product, and literature is essential to guide discussions with payers toward positive coverage decisions. This role is a “hands-on” role with a significant opportunity for leadership at the BU-level, as well as engagement and strategy development for global market access initiatives.
Work closely with the commercial Business Unit to establish agreed upon GMA projects and timelines as part of the overall BU strategic plan.
Develop significant disease state and product expertise, to enable engagement in comprehensive discussions with payers and administrators to discuss and position outcomes of clinical studies and clinical literature to guide development of positive coverage decisions.
Ensure transparency of issues and decisions whilst collaborating with the BU to make decisions (and trade-offs when necessary) to make decisions related to market access.
Strengthen BTG’s relationships with payers and providers in the US by recognizing and proactively planning to meet the unique needs of different payer and provider segments, including government programs, managed care plans and innovative providers accepting financial risk.
Lead the efforts to gain both interim and permanent coding, coverage and payment for the interventional medicine BTG products.
Work closely with market access colleagues and commercial team to develop HEOR/reimbursement solutions, tools, programs, strategies, value dossier, and cost-effectiveness studies, and monitor their effectiveness.
Develop market access strategies, and provide education to end-user customers as well as internal customers.
Oversee pricing actions on behalf of the company and work collaboratively with BU’s on pricing and contract pricing deals, ensuring BU understanding of proposed pricing or customer contracting.
Work closely with Senior Director of GMA Strategic Analytics to develop specific and clearly defined metrics for the BU.
Develop and maintain communication and collaboration with all GMA team members to ensure the sharing of best practices.
Provide insights and key inputs regarding collaborative development of GMA-level strategies, including development of policy positions in the U.S. Market.
Ensure the team stays abreast of developing external trends, laws and policies and reports related business threats or opportunities to GMA senior leadership as well as BU, Legal, Compliance or Regulatory where appropriate.
Ensure that business operations are conducted in compliance with all applicable rules, laws and codes, protecting the Company’s interests and minimising or mitigating risks.

Bachelor’s degree required
Significant experience in leadership roles
Proven industry track record in Market Access and Pricing – within the Medical Device and Pharmaceutical industry
Product launch experience from a market access perspective
Ability to review clinical and health economic literature, including disease state information, clinical trial design and results, and economic studies in order to understand the implications for value to payers.
Ability to design and conduct research to support the product value
In depth understanding and first-hand experience of strategically overseeing US Market Access requirements, regulation, dynamics and referencing
Knowledge of pricing research methodologies
Strategic understanding of strategic pricing and contracting, including innovative approaches such as risk-sharing deals.
Strong but empathetic management style, ensuring other team members have adequate autonomy, accountability and development headroom, driving a delivery culture but via a supportive, conflict free environment
Demonstrable leadership qualities particular in situations of conflict and under pressure
