The Clinical Infection Preventionist plans, implements, and evaluates infection prevention and control measures.
Monitors and investigates known or suspected sources of infections in order to determine the source and ensure control.
Reviews, analyzes, and implements regulations, standards, and/or guidelines of applicable governmental agencies and professional organizations.
Collaborates in the development and delivery of educational programs and/or tools that relate to infection prevention, control, and epidemiology.
Reports infection surveillance, prevention and control information to local, state and federal public health authorities in accordance with law and regulation.
Acts as the clinical advisor for Infection Prevention and Control department and organization.
Serves as the infection officer for the organization.
Licensed Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Certification specializing in Infection Control.
High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice, microbiology, epidemiology, leadership, performance improvement and research statistics preferred in order to conduct surveillance and prepare related reports.
Minimum of three years of healthcare experience, preferably in critical care, surgery, community occupational health, infection control and epidemiology or microbiology laboratory preferred.
