Saint Simons By-The-Sea Hospital is a 101 bed psychiatric and addictive disease hospital for adults and adolescents. We strive to provide quality mental health treatment and addiction treatment services in the area. Located on Saint Simons Island, Ga., Saint Simons By-The-Sea's serene island setting ensures privacy and anonymity, enabling the patient to concentrate on recovery. Our hospital is conveniently located within driving distance of Jacksonville, FL, Savannah, GA, and other surrounding cities in the South Georgia and Northern Florida region. The hospital's comfortable, supportive environment helps put patients at ease. Saint Simons By-The-Sea's staff has extensive experience in the fields of addiction treatment, recovery, relapse prevention and mental health treatment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:
Investigates, evaluates, and analyzes events that threaten or potentially threaten patient safety through the following: review of medical records, identification and interview of staff, collection of data and/or creating timelines, review of related literature.
Directs the hospital wide performance improvement program, and works collaboratively with senior staff members and directors in the development of department specific programs and quality measure which are within the standards of Joint Commission, CMS regulations and other applicable Federal and state laws and regulations governing health care facilities. Provide continuous support in the analysis of performance improvement goals and objectives, re-establishing requirements which will facilitate continuous improvement.Functions as the "Lead Role" in survey process (CMS or Joint Commission surveys).
Manages medical staff reporting functions (e.g. pharmacy, and therapeutics, utilization review, quality improvement, risk management and medical records review), prepares and presents results of medical staff performance improvement activities for Medical Staff Committees and the Governing Board on a quarterly basis.
Collects data for physician's performance profiles, directs the medical staff ongoing performance evaluation process, proctoring process, and peer review functions. Oversees the credentialing coordinator for St. Simons By-The-Sea.
Acts as a resource to administration, management and hospital staff to provide guidance on patient safety and risk management issues such as consent, patient-family concerns, documentation, disclosure, guardianship, family conferences, law enforcement requests, policy and procedure development and revisions. Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. Achieve, maintain, and monitor compliance with JCAHO accreditation, CMS, and other licensing agency requirements.
