In the Medical Inspection Unit, and under the direction of the Chief of Medical Inspections, you will review the medical care of incarcerated patients through electronic health record review. Using your expert knowledge and judgment, you will analyze and determine the quality of state correctional health care, examining health care access, ancillary services, specialty services, as well as provider and nursing quality. As part of the medical inspections, you will make important recommendations for the improvement of correctional health services throughout the state.
This position consists of the administrative review of health care, and does not involve the direct treatment of patients. Approximately 5% of the work involves travel to correctional institutions to interview medical staff. The position does not require any afterhours or weekend responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in outpatient medicine, preferably in a correctional setting. The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate must possess personal integrity, initiative, dependability, fairness, and the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others.
