Regional Health, located in Rapid City, South Dakota, announces an exciting opportunity for a physician executive to serve as the Vice President of Medical Affairs for Regional Health Rapid City Hospital.
Regional Health Rapid City Hospital is the flagship facility of Regional Health, an integrated health care system comprised of 5 hospitals, 24 clinic locations, and post-acute services in 20 communities and 2 states and employs nearly 5,000 physicians and caregivers. Regional Health Rapid City Hospital, staffed at 325-beds, is a level II trauma center, a Magnet facility and the region’s leading medical center. Regional Health Rapid City Hospital is ranked in the top five percent of hospitals nationally for Clinical Excellence by Healthgrade.
Regional Health seeks a progressive physician leader with proven success in community and employed medical staff engagement to advance the system’s commitment to providing the highest quality, safety and consistency of care for Regional Health patients. The Vice President of Medical Affairs will serve as the chief physician executive at Regional Health Rapid City Hospital with primary responsibility for improving hospital-wide services and quality measures. Promoting the delivery of world-class healthcare, the Vice President of Medical Affairs will establish evidence-based best practices and care pathways to promote clinical quality and patient safety outcomes, enhance caregiver and provider engagement, and improve cost effectiveness of care to support Regional Health’s success in the new value-driven healthcare environment. The Vice President of Medical Affairs will coordinate medical affairs and create an environment of excellence with oversight and leadership of credentialing, privileging, medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations peer-review and provider enrollment. S/he will support the recruitment and retention of high performing and culturally-aligned providers and serve as a mentor for strengthening the physician leadership across the health system. The Vice President Medical Affairs will maintain a reduced clinical practice.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated success serving in medical management roles within a hospital, preferably serving in a similar position within an integrated health system. A dynamic and collaborative leadership style with excellent communication skills, and a demonstrated expertise in physician engagement and alignment, process improvement and program development are essential. Current Board certification is required; an advanced degree is highly desirable.
