The Medical College of Wisconsin, in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, is actively recruiting physicians to join our dynamically expanding group in pediatric hospital medicine. Physicians in this position will provide care at our new community partner site, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints, part of Ascension, in Racine, Wisconsin, located 30 miles south of Milwaukee, with the support of the campus of MCW and CHW in Milwaukee. This position may be full-time or part-time. We also have opportunities available to split time between the Racine location and our main location, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Shared Medicine-Pediatrics hospitalist positions are also available and encouraged.
Clinical responsibilities include care of inpatients on the 14-bed acute care pediatric unit and consultation services in the Emergency Department at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare -- All Saints in Racine. NICU is staffed by Medical College of Wisconsin Neonatologists, newborn nursery primarily by community pediatricians, and there are no PICU responsibilities. Pediatric Hospital Medicine has been awarded the task to grow the inpatient program to meet the needs of hospitalized patients within their own community. On occasion, you will be expected to attend a delivery, RRT, and pediatric codes in the ED. Clinical shift requirements average seven to eight 24 hours shifts per month; however, may evolve into day and night shifts as the program grows. Flexible scheduling options offered. Candidates should be board certified or eligible in Pediatrics and interested in an academic appointment; however, clinical-only positions will be considered. Candidates with inpatient pediatric experience are preferred. A competitive compensation package and academic appointment will be offered.
Hospitalist Section at Medical College of Wisconsin
Our section is comprised of an energetic group of 30 physicians with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, academic productivity, and medical education. In addition to providing clinical care, our team is engaged in a variety of educational, research, advocacy, safety and quality improvement projects. Our section is actively involved in training of medical students and residents in pediatrics, medicine/ pediatrics, emergency medicine and family medicine at CHW and Froedtert Hospital. Areas of academic interest include bronchiolitis, transitions of care, medical education, medication safety and quality improvement. Our program provides ample opportunity for growth and academic collaboration. Care is provided at the 14-bed pediatric acute care unit at All Saints in Racine, Wisconsin. All Saints has one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the state and is a referral center for surrounding Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare facilities.
